On Wednesday, the Oxford Police Department received a report of a man going inside someone’s vehicle at Pat Lamar Park and stealing cash and a checkbook.

Through an investigation, Allen Mathis, 21, of Oxford was identified as the suspect. On Thursday, OPD officers arrested Mathis on a warrant for vehicle burglary. He was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was booked on a $20,000 bond.
