Bobby Bankston

Mr. Bobby Louis Bankston, 59, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at his home in Oxford, Miss. The funeral service will be Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Everette Childers officiating.  Burial will follow in Delay Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning a 12 p.m. in West Hall at Waller Funeral Home.

Born in Sardis, Miss. to the late Eloise Beard and James Bankston, Mr. Bankston was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.  He worked as an auto mechanic for 25 years at Barrios Chevron and South Lamar Shell and had a fond appreciation for restoring (and driving!) vintage automobiles.  Before retiring as the owner of Denmark Construction Company, he was involved in numerous construction projects in Oxford and Lafayette County. A favorite hobby of Bobby’s was creating unique cakes for close friends and family.  When not working, he cherished time spent with his family, enjoyed watching and attending WWE wrestling matches and playing the guitar.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie Potts and Linda Britt and two brothers, Jimmy and Billy Bankston.

Survivors include his wife, Tina Irene Murchison Bankston of Oxford, Miss.; a daughter, Crystal Bankston Bolen and her husband, Jesse of New Albany, Miss.; a son, Joshua Louis Bankston and his wife, Shanna of Oxford, Miss.; a sister, Wanda Britt of Oxford, Miss. and five grandchildren, Halei, Crissa, Ryan, Easton and Abigail.
