Mr. Phillip Aten, 44, passed away Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at his residence in Oxford, Miss. Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at Coleman Funeral Home, at 6 p.m.
Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Aten was born in Iowa City, Iowa. He was described as an avid gamer. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Aten loved movies and anime. He also loved his job at Woodforest Bank and all of his friends and coworkers there.
Mr. Aten served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and The Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, as well as a Marine Corps Overseas Ribbon.
Mr. Aten is survived by his wife, Miranda Aten of Oxford, Miss.; his mother, Sally Davis of Bixby, Okla.; his step-father, Charlie Davis of Bixby, Okla.; his sons, Brian Aten, Michael Aten both of Washington D.C., and Austin Collins of Bruce, MS; his daughters, Jessica Aten of Washington, D.C., and Sarah Grace Collins of Bruce, Miss.; his sister, Pamela Heggy of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Michelle Aten of Washington D.C.
In honor of Mr. Phillip Aten’s service to our country, the flag of the United States Marine Corp will be flown at Coleman Funeral Home.
