NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Ole Miss’ women’s basketball team was picked to finish 13th in the Southeastern Conference this season by the media.

The preseason poll, which was voted on by a select panel of SEC and national media members, was released as part of the women’s SEC media day Thursday at the Omni Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. Defending national champion South Carolina was pegged to win the conference while Mississippi State was picked to finish second.

The Rebels lost point guard Erika Sisk and center Taylor Manuel off last year’s team but return their top two scorers in guards Madinah Muhammad (13 points per game) and Shandricka Sessom (12.7). Ole Miss went 17-14 but just 6-10 in SEC play before a first-round exit in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament, the Rebels’ second WNIT appearance under fifth-year coach Matt Insell.
