Ms. Betty Cheney, 55, passed away Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at Oxford Health and Rehab in Oxford, Miss. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Pine Flat Cemetery. Bro. Virgil Nelson will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Cheney was born in Zion, Ill. She was a bus driver for the Oxford School District for many years, and she was a member of Pine Flat United Methodist Church. She was well known for her animals and especially loved cats. She also enjoyed working in the garden.

Ms. Cheney is survived by her ex-husband, Louis Brummett of Water Valley, Miss; her son, Anthony Brummett of Pecos, Texas; one brother, George (Dorothy) Cheney of Houlka, Miss; one sister, Martha (James) Talley of Corinth, Miss; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Ms. Cheney was preceded in death by her mother and father, Howard and Betty Cheney, as well as a brother, Tommy Cheney.
