Ruby Martindale Jamieson

After ninety-four years, Ruby Martindale Jamieson, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Sunday Oct. 29, 2017 at the Oxford Health and Rehabilitation Center in Oxford, Miss.

Funeral Services honoring the well-lived life of Mrs. Jamieson was held Oct. 31 at The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Doc Shelton officiating. Burial followed at Oakland Baptist Cemetery near Walnut, Miss.

Born March 11, 1923, she was the youngest of ten and last surviving child of the late John Ervin and Cora Shappley Martindale. A native of the Tippah and Hardeman County areas, Mrs. Jamieson received her education in the Public School System in the Oakland Community. A homemaker first, she was employed in earlier years by the Ripley Screen Company located in Collierville, Tenn.

 A Christian is known for her determination and independence, in past years, Mrs. Jamieson and her family enjoyed being a part of a gospel music quartet in the Tippah County area. A Billy Graham and Joel Osteen follower, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, flower gardening and cooking with her special “chocolate pie recipe.”

  Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Kerry Yopp (Meg) of Abbeville, Miss., eight grandchildren, Steven, Ronnie, Jimmy, Natasha, Angie and Tammy Yopp, Billy Herring and Rose Marie Martin, numerous great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Jamieson was also preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy and Sammy Yopp, four sisters, Mary Yopp, Eunice Jackson, Pearl Ferrell and Vista Booker and five brothers, Earnest, Charlie, Ulysses, Ed and Will Martindale.
