When it comes to planning Oxford’s largest two-day festival, it’s never too early to get the ball rolling.

Festival organizer Lee Ann Stubbs said plans for this year’s festival, being held on April 27 and 28, are moving along.

The deadline for art submissions for the 2018 festival was Friday and Stubbs said she received nine submissions that the festival committee is now in the process of reviewing.

“We will announce the winner before Dec. 1,” she said Wednesday; however, the actual artwork won’t be unveiled until February.

The chosen artwork will become the “official artwork” of the festival and will appear on T-shirts, posters and other forms of advertising for the 23rd annual event.

Artists are given little direction about what to design; however, all submissions had to include a double-decker bus to pay homage to the first double-decker bus in Oxford that was imported from England in 1994.

The application for artists to have a booth at the festival is now online at http://doubledeckerfestival.com/art/. The application went live Tuesday and 22 artists have already applied for their spots, which are limited.

Single booths are 10-feet by 10-feet and fees start at $225 for a single booth up to $550 for a double booth in a premium spot.

Stubbs said art vendor applications will be taken until Jan. 25 and applications for food vendor spots will begin in February.

“We’re still working to get our headliner finalized,” she said Wednesday.

A press conference will be held sometime in February where the Double Decker artwork will be unveiled, as well as the musical lineup and other festival-related information.
