Mary Jean Sealy Chapman, 92, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017 at Hermitage Gardens of Oxford, Miss. She was born Jan. 28, 1925 in Abbeville, Miss to the late Toby Luther and Esther Redwine Sealy.

She was a retired teacher at Blue Mountain College. She was a member of the American Chemical Society, the Mississippi Academy of Science and Kappa Kappa Iota.

She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in New Albany, Miss.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017 at United Funeral Service with Bro. Ricky Bishop officiating. Burial will be at Vista Memorial Park. United Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Butler (Jimmy) of Elizabethton, Tenn; a son, Rupert Chapman III (Helen) of Benfleet, England; two sisters, Martha Mitchell of Oxford, Miss and Joyce Ritter of Memphis, Tenn; two grandchildren, Rupert Chapman IV and Alexander Chapman; and two great-grandchildren, James Chapman and Bethany Chapman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rupert Chapman; and a brother, John Sealy.

Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. till service time at the funeral home.
