Miss Janie Sue Moore, 70, passed away early Monday, Dec. 25, 2017 at Oxford Health and Rehab in Oxford, Miss. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017 from 10 a.m. until service time beginning 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks, Miss. Interment to follow in Lambert Cemetery.

Janie Sue was born with Downs Syndrome, and yet, she was a blessing to her family and those who crossed her path. She attended Walnut Elementary School. She loved playing with her Barbie and Ken dolls. She believed in Santa, and if you played with her on Christmas Day, her faith was infectious, and you would believe in St. Nick, too. Still, her faith in Jesus Christ was of utmost importance to Janie Sue. She loved to hear and sing gospel music. She especially liked to listen to and to sing gospel tunes sung by Elvis Presley on old LP albums.

She enjoyed her coffee at 9 a.m. and her Coke at 3 p.m. She loved to eat tomato sandwiches. If you gave her a birthday card without any money in it, she often responded, “Humph! No money!” She liked watching TV and exercising in the mornings with TV star, Jack LaLanne. She watched her “stories” in the afternoons. She went to camp many summers and was awarded “The Best Dancer Award” on a number of occasions. Janie Sue often claimed her “boyfriend” was the well-known singer, Wayne Newton. And sometimes, when she entered a room, someone in the family would sing, “There she is, Miss America..” She then sometimes said, she was the only one to ever serve as Miss America two years in a row!

Janie Sue is survived by one brother, Alton Moore, and his wife, Maxine Ray Moore, of Grapeland, Texas.; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Bayles Moore, of Oxford, Miss..; Angel Neal Moore, of Clarksville, Tenn..; three nieces, Kathy Moore Bearden, of Clarksville, Tenn.; Marcia Moore Wheat of Montgomery, Ala.; Toni Moore Daniels of Houston, Texas.; three nephews, R.B. Moore of Homer, La.; Rick Moore of Freeport, Texas.; Tracy Moore of Seattle, Wash.; a number of grand nephews and nieces, great-grands, and cousins. She was welcomed into glory by her Lord Jesus; her parents Bryan and Madge Youngblood Moore; two brothers, Dr. R. N. Moore and Clayton P. Moore; and one nephew, Dennis Moore.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Lambert, Miss.
