Ms. Sydney Louise Holmes, 46, passed away at her residence in Oxford, Miss., on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018. Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. A service will follow on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Coleman Funeral Home. Interment will take place later that afternoon at Yellow Leaf Cemetery. Pastors Virgil Nelson and Sam Gossett will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Holmes was born in Oxford in the Winter of 1972 to Howard and Shirley Holmes.

Ms. Holmes attended Oxford Junior High School and graduated from Oxford High School in May 1990.

Ms. Holmes worked for Rayner Eye Clinic, in Oxford, as an Optical Tech where she enjoyed working with all of the patients on a daily basis. She was also a member of Yellow Leaf Baptist Church.

All in all, Ms. Holmes cherished the time she could spend with her family. Her daughter, Holly, and nephew, John, were very important to her – her entire world revolved around them.

Ms. Holmes leaves behind her daughter, Holly Nichole White of Como, Miss.; mother, Shirley Louise Hollowell Holmes of Oxford; sister, Susan H. (Bill) Sparks of Oxford; and nephew, John Alexander of Raleigh, N.C.

Ms. Holmes is preceded in death by her father, Howard Edison Holmes.
