OPD arrests 2 in unrelated theft crimes

The Oxford Police DepartmentĀ arrested two Oxford residents last week for unrelated burglaries.

According to reports, on Feb. 3, officers took a report a vehicle burglary at New York Fashion on University Avenue. The investigation led to the arrest of Carolyn Ivy, 49, after she allegedly cashed the victim’s money order at a local bank on Feb. 5.

Two arrest warrants were issued for her arrest for vehicle burglary and false pretense. She was arrested on Feb. 12 at her home and taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where she was booked on a $2,500 bond.

On Feb. 9, OPD officers arrested Dylan Rees, 27, of Oxford for three counts of burglary of a dwelling. Rees is suspected of going inside of an apartment and stealing several items. The items were then sold on social media websites.

Rees was arrested and taken to the Detention Center where he was booked on a $20,000 bond.
