Tyler Siskey is returning to Ole Miss to head the Rebels’ recruiting office.

Siskey will take over as the assistant athletics director for recruiting, head coach Matt Luke announced Wednesday. Siskey spent the last three seasons as the wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at South Alabama.

Siskey returns to Oxford after serving as the Rebels’ coordinator of recruiting development in 2012, helping oversee the recruiting efforts for a 2013 class that was the highest-ranked in school history at the time and produced first-round draft picks Laremy Tunsil, Laquon Treadwell and Robert Nkemdiche.

“Tyler has a tremendous track record of success in recruiting, and we are excited to have him back on our staff,” Luke said in a statement. “Our coaches continue to recruit at a high level, and with the addition of Tyler, we look forward to taking our efforts to even greater heights.”

Siskey left Ole Miss after one season for Alabama, where he was hired as the Crimson Tide’s associate player of personnel under Nick Saban in 2013 before being promoted to primary director of player personnel in 2014. It was in 2013 when Siskey was accused of stealing signs from Ole Miss after TV cameras spotted Siskey in the coaches’ box looking onto the field through a pair of binoculars during ESPN’s telecast of the Rebels’ 25-0 loss at Alabama.

In his press conference the week after the game, Saban denied any wrongdoing on Siskey’s part.

“He didn’t really assist in the game plan. He wasn’t on the headset and didn’t talk to anybody during the game,” Saban told reporters in Alabama. “I don’t know if there’s any rule that says he can’t go in the press box and watch the game. He wasn’t in any different position than he’s ever been in any game.”

Siskey has also spent time at Arkansas State, Northwestern State (graduate assistant) and Troy (student assistant).
