Larry Lynn Hollowell

Mr. Larry Lynn Hollowell, 71, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.  The funeral service will be Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, at 2 p.m. at New Prospect Baptist Church with Rev. Buster Wilson and Rev. Fish Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Springdale Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home and again prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. at the church.

Born in Lafayette County to the late Robert Lee and Velma Leona Hodge Hollowell, Mr. Hollowell was a retired maintenance superintendent with Emerson Electric.  He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. Mr. Hollowell was the last active fireman of the original nine men who founded the Lafayette County Volunteer Fire Department.  He was named Volunteer Fireman of the Year on October 24, 2001.

Mr. Hollowell was preceded in death by three siblings, Billy, Earl and Doris Hollowell.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Leggitt Hollowell of Oxford; a daughter, Tammy Thomas and her husband, Brian of Pontotoc, Miss.; a son, Kerry Lynn Hollowell of Oxford; two brothers, J.E. Hollowell of Jackson, Tenn., and Harold Dean Hollowell of Batesville, Miss.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
