Former Ole Miss men’s basketball coach Rob Evans has been selected to this year’s SEC Basketball Legends class.

Each member of the class, which includes one representative from all 14 SEC schools, will be recognized at halftime of his respective school’s first game in this year’s SEC Tournament, which will be played March 7-11 at Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

Joining Evans in this year’s class are former Alabama guard James Robinson, former Arkansas guard Jonathon Modica, former Auburn player and coach Joel Eaves, former Florida forward David Lee, former Georgia forward Chad Kessler, former Kentucky guard Joe Crawford, former LSU coach John Brady, former Mississippi State guard Ray White, former Missouri forward Doug Smith, former South Carolina guard Carey Rich, former Tennessee center Howard Wood, former Texas A&M forward Barry Davis and former Vanderbilt guard Godfrey Dillard.

Evans coached the Rebels from 1992-98, leading Ole Miss to a pair of SEC Western Division championships and NCAA Tournament berths in 1997 and 1998 — the first-ever back-to-back NCAA appearances in program history. He won 51.5 percent (86-81) of his games as Ole Miss’ coach and is the fifth-winningest coach in program history.

Evans also spent eight years as the head coach at Arizona State from 1998-2006 and most recently was the associate head coach at North Texas until 2017.
