Sometimes, you just have to wonder.

In an age with more destructive mass shootings, now we have the emergence of what appears to be a serial bomber in Austin, Texas.

The capital city, which is also a university town loved for its unique qualities, is on edge following Sunday’s tripwire bombing. Monday night, another episode occurred when a small bomb exploded in a package at a FedEx facility in Austin

So far, two people are dead and four are injured from four bombing occurrences in Austin that authorities fear are related. Sunday’s tripwire bombing. That bombing has raised concern because it was more “sophisticated,” according to authorities.

Needless to say, Austin is rattled because residents and visitors in the community wonder what’s coming next. The bombings appear random, with no particular targets.

Austin is a much, much larger college community than Oxford, but as a fellow flagship home (the University of Texas is in Austin) to a state university, we can’t help but feel an extra bit of compassion and concern.

It’s just unthinkable that residents can’t walk along a sidewalk without looking for a fishing line that may be serving as a bomb tripwire.

We pray that the serial attacker will be caught, soon, and that this type of domestic terrorism doesn’t spread.
