Walter Konupka

Mr. Walter Konupka, 69, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Florida. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Konupka was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He dedicated many years of his life to The Tampa Tribune before he retired as a circulation general manager. Mr. Konupka also served in the United States Marine Corps for over four years and also served during the Vietnam War. For over twenty years, he was very involved in the boy scouts, youth soccer programs and foreign exchange student programs when he lived in Inverness, Fla. Mr. Konupka was often described as the type of person who never met a stranger, with the most charismatic personality, who also loved to tell jokes all while trying to make sure everyone was having a good time.
Mr. Konupka leaves behind his son, Eric (Lisa) Konupka of Tunica, Miss; his daughter, Christina (Richard) Shepard of Mechanicsville, Va; his grandson, Bryson Shepard of Mechanicsville; and his granddaughter, Sadie Shepard of Mechanicsville.
Mr. Konupka was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Konupka and Anna Catherine Konupka.
