Cold front moves in tonight

A cold front moving into the area tonight is expected to bring heavy rain into Lafayette County, along with a possible strong thunderstorm or two.

While Lafayette County has only a slight risk for damaging thunderstorms, the area has been put under a flash flood watch from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The biggest threat for severe thunderstorms is after 1 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. Hail and wind gusts up to 30 mph are expected during the scattered thunderstorms.

Lafayette County is expected to receive 3.57 inches of rain by the end of Saturday.

The cold front will bring temperatures down on Sunday to a high of about 55 and a low of 35 Sunday night. Temperatures will start climbing back up Tuesday with highs in the low 70s expected for the rest of the week and lows in the 50s at night.
