Pontotoc man charged with hurting juvenile, possessing child porn

- On April 13, 2018, officers with the Oxford Police Department were dispatched to the Square for a welfare check on a juvenile. The juvenile was transported to a hospital after reporting physical abuse. Officers were able to identify the suspect as Anthony Powell (24 of Pontotoc, MS). Powell was arrested and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center for aggravated domestic violence and possession of child pornography. A bond of $150,000 was set by a judge.
A Pontotoc man was arrested Friday for allegedly harming a juvenile and possessing child pornography.
According to the Oxford Police Department, officers were dispatched on Friday to the Square for a welfare check of a juvenile, who was transported to a hospital after reporting physical abuse.
Officers were able to identify the suspect as Anthony Powell, 24, of Pontotoc. Powell was arrested and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was charged with aggravated domestic violence and possession of child pornography and booked on a $150,000 bond.
