Scam: Callers posing as North East Power employees asking for deposit money
The North East Mississippi Electric Power Association is warning its customers of a potential scam.
According to NEMEPA’s website, some members have recently received phone calls from someone posing as a NEMEPA employee who is asking for additional money for a deposit to avoid disconnection of service.
NEMEPA does not make phone calls requesting money for bills or deposits.
If any members receive a call from someone claiming to be with North East Power requesting money for a deposit, NEMEPA recommends hanging up the phone and calling the NEMEPA office at 662-234-6331.
