Firefighters Clarence Williams and Randy Jones both joined the Oxford Fire Department in April 1993.

Twenty-five years later, the two men said goodbye to OFD together.

On Tuesday, the Oxford Board of Aldermen read retirement resolutions for both Williams and Jones, thanking them for their “dedication, commitment and passion.”

As chief of investigations, Williams was over fire inspections, prevention and public education. As the fire investigator, Jones responded to each fire and helped determine the cause. He also served as the Team Coordinator for the Mississippi Task Force, who are specially trained firefighters trained for search and rescue in natural or man-made disasters.

“Losing people like Clarence Williams and Randy Jones creates large gaps in our organization as they have 50-plus years of work experience,” said OFD Chief Mark Heath. “Both have played a big role in influencing the culture of the Oxford Fire Department.”
