Ole Miss on Thursday continued its recruiting momentum in the spring signing period by inking Franco Miller Jr.

Miller, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound guard, chose the Rebels over offers from Oregon, Minnesota and Oklahoma among others. Miller became the third spring signee for first-year coach Kermit Davis, joining forwards KJ Buffen and Blake Hinson. The trio joins early signees Zach Naylor and Brian Halums in the Rebels’ 2018 class.

A native of The Bahamas, Miller averaged 25.8 points, six rebounds, 5.2 assists and 3.3 steals at Crestwood Preparatory College in Toronto last season.

“Franco is a multi-talented guard that is a high-level scorer from a great basketball pedigree,” Davis said in a statement. “He is really mature and will already have an SEC body when he arrives on campus as a freshman. Franco had an outstanding year at Crestwood that helped him build on the success he achieved at Tabernacle Baptist Academy. He was very fortunate to have been coached at a really high level at both places throughout his entire playing career.”

Miller will immediately compete for playing time in a backcourt that adds Halum and returns Breein Tyree, Devontae Shuler, Ilya Tyrtyshnik and Terence Davis should Davis decide to return for his senior season. Davis declared for the NBA Draft in March but didn’t hire an agent, giving him the option to withdraw his name and return to school by the June 11 deadline.

Miller’s signing leaves Ole Miss with one open scholarship for the current class. Dougherty Comprehensive (Georgia) three-star forward Carlos Curry, who originally signed with Davis at Middle Tennessee State, recently visited Ole Miss and also has offers from Florida State, Buffalo and Illinois State.
