Dr. Carl P. Bernet Jr., 91, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 19, 2018.  A memorial visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Greenwood, Mississippi.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Bernet received his medical degree from the University in Cincinnati in 1950.  He worked for a short time for the Center for Disease Control then moved to Greenwood, where he opened his Pediatric Practice in August 1955 and faithfully served the Greenwood area for over 50 years.

Dr. Bernet was a charter member of St. John’s United Methodist Church where he served on numerous committees over the years.  He was an avid golfer, loved to fish, bowl and work in his yard.  His favorite times of the year were Halloween and Christmas.

The widower of Janet Wright Bernet, he is preceded in death by two grandchildren, Christopher Alban Bernet and Lance Bush.

Survivors include two sons, Christopher K. Bernet of Oxford, Carl P. Bernet, III (Vicki) of Magnolia, Texas;  two daughters, Beth Hays of Madison, Mississippi, Nan Bush (Daryl) of Greenwood, Mississippi; seven grandchildren; Callie Moser (Joe) of Oxford, Taylor Rivers Bush of Greenwood, Heather Hays of Covington, Louisiana, Kati Coates (Cody) of Calgary, Canada, Becca Huffine (Dale) of Katy, Texas, Carl P. Bernet, IV (Christiana) of Denver, Maggie Bernet of Durango, Colorado; four great grandchildren and very special friends Cathy and Eddie Barnes and Thelma Hester.
