The Yalobusha County Sheriff’s Department is asking the public to stay away from Enid Dam area of the lake today as a search for a missing man continues.

A 42-year-old man went missing near the dam on Saturday afternoon, according to the North Mississippi Herald.

Yalobusha County Sheriff Lance Humphreys posted on the YCSD’s Facebook page Saturday night that the man was not located but that the search would continue Monday.

“Search and Rescue boats will be using sonar and other boat traffic interferes with it,” he wrote. “The only boat ramp that will be closed to the public will be McCurdy Point in the north side of Enid Lake. Thank you for your cooperation and please spread the word.”

Humphreys said divers, boats and a cadaver dog were used Sunday during the search that lasted until midnight Saturday and Sunday.

Those helping in the search included Yalobusha Search and Rescue, Panola Search and Rescue, the U.S. Corps of Engineers and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
