Ole Miss basketball inks four-star forward Luis Rodriguez

Ole Miss added a late piece to its 2018 recruiting class Friday in Luis Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, a four-star small forward out of Woodstock Academy (Connecticut), signed with the Rebels over offers from Illinois, Massachusetts and others. A native of California, Rodriguez is rated as the No. 1 player in Connecticut and the nation’s 143rd overall prospect in the 247Sports composite rankings.

The 6-foot-6 Rodriguez averaged 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists last year for a Woodstock Academy team that finished 35-5.

“Louis is a very tough, physical, competitive athlete that played on an outstanding prep team at Woodstock,” Ole Miss coach Kermit Davis said in a statement. “His versatility offensively and defensively fits extremely well with our style of play on both ends. He’s a person with high character, and we’re really excited for Luis to join Ole Miss basketball..”

Rodriguez joins guard Franco Miller Jr., forwards KJ Buffen and Blake Hinson and  junior college signees Zach Naylor and Brian Halums in the current class.
