Oxford Man Charged with Aggravated Assault, Kidnapping

- On Friday, June 15, 2018, the Oxford Police Department responded to a residence off of Old Taylor Rd for a reported domestic disturbance. Upon arrival officers made contact with Patrick Pratt (21 of Oxford, MS) inside the residence. An investigation ensued and it was discovered that Pratt had strangled the victim and held the victim there against their will. Pratt was arrested and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was booked for Domestic Violence – Aggravated Assault and Kidnapping. He was given a bond of $35,000 by a Justice Court Judge.

Upon arrival, officers encountered Patrick Pratt, 21 of Oxford, inside the residence. OPD investigated and discovered Pratt had strangled the victim and held them in the residence against their will. Pratt was arrested and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center, where where he was booked for domestic violence – aggravated assault and kidnapping. He was given a bond of $35,000 by a Justice Court Judge.
Aggravated assault and kidnapping are both felonies in the state of Mississippi. If convicted, Pratt could face up to 20 years in prison for the aggravated assault charge, as well as a life sentence for the kidnapping charge.
