The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department and Mississippi Bureau of Investigation have filed an affidavit against Molly Wray, 27 of Oxford for Enticement of a Child to Meet for Sexual Purposes.

Molly Wray has been charged with Enticement of a Child to Meet for Sexual Purposes by the Lafayette County Sherriff’s Department.

The investigation began on June 4, when the sheriff’s department received a complaint from Lafayette County School District Superintendent Adam Pugh regarding reports of improper conduct between a teacher and a student, according to a statement released by the department.

Wray was a math teacher at Lafayette High School, but according to Pugh, she has resigned effective immediately.

In a statement to the EAGLE, Pugh called the issue an “unfortunate situation.”

“We have been working with our local law enforcement and will continue until the issue is resolved,” Pugh said. “This is a very unfortunate situation for all those involved.”

Wray attended high school at LHS and is an Oxford native.

Before a warrant can officially be issued for Wray’s arrest, a probable cause hearing must be held in front of a Circuit Court judge. The hearing has not been set, but will be held on the first available date, according to the statement.
