The relationship between Kay and Ashley was a perfect representation of the love between a mother and daughter with an unbreakable bond that death cannot separate.  Kay’s impact on her daughter’s life will continue through Ashley’s career in nursing, caring for others as she and her mom cared for one another.

As a founding member of The Community Church, Kay served as a greeter and was fondly known as “the church mom.”  One of her most memorable expressions of love for her church was shown through crocheting baby blankets for every baby born within the church or afghans for every couple married. All will remember her giving heart and her ability to make anyone feel comfortable and welcome.

She was active in the women’s ministry, local outreach ministry and anywhere else she was called to serve.  Her giving heart extended outside of church and into the lives of her family.

She was a proud, loving and involved grandmother and delighted in spending time with her grandchildren.

Kay enjoyed playing with her dog, Tula, working outside with her flowers, caring for her yard and recently developed a love for turkey hunting.  Additionally, she was a member of the Mississippi Methodist Cursillo Community.

Survivors include her husband, Greg Bounds of Oxford; her daughter, Ashley Nicole Bounds Freeman and her husband, Rob of Oxford; her parents, Vee and Ed Kannada; a sister, Gayle Yendt and her husband, Bill of Tupelo, Miss.; a brother, Mike Kannada and his wife, Fonda of Oxford and four grandchildren, Gregory Chase Freeman, Ethan Gage Freeman, Donovan James Freeman and Dalton Joseph Freeman.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Bounds memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1380 Livingston Lane, Jackson, MS 39213 or The Community Church of Oxford Missions, 68 Hwy 334, Oxford, MS 38655.
