Ole Miss has added a defensive lineman to its 2019 recruiting class.

Wetumpka (Alabama) High defensive tackle Patrick Lucas Jr. committed to the Rebels on Monday, announcing his decision with a post to his Twitter account. The 6-foot-3, 280-pound Lucas chose Ole Miss over offers from Florida, Tennessee, Indiana and Memphis among others.

A consensus three-star prospect, Lucas is ranked the nation’s No. 38 defensive tackle and the No. 19 recruit in Alabama in the 247Sports.com composite ratings. He joins Northwest Mississippi Community College end/tackle Tariqious Tisdale as the only defensive linemen in the class and is the lone true interior lineman currently committed after the Rebels signed five tackles in the 2018 class, including junior college transfers Hal Northern and Noah Jefferson.

Lucas’ verbal pledge gives Ole Miss 23 commitments for the 2019 recruiting cycle, the most of any Power Five program so far. The class is ranked 14th nationally and sixth in the SEC in the 247Sports composite.
