Ole Miss didn’t have to look far for its most recent commitment.

Lafayette High linebacker Eric Jeffries gave his verbal pledge to the Rebels on Monday, giving Ole Miss 24 commitments in its 2019 recruiting class. Jeffries also had a scholarship offer from Louisiana.

Jeffries, who received an offer from Ole Miss in June after attending a summer camp, has been a recognizable name in Oxford for the last few years having started his prep career at Oxford High. The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder hasn’t played since his sophomore season after transferring to Lafayette last year.

Jeffries, a three-star prospect rated the No. 41 recruit in Mississippi in 247Sports.com’s composite rankings, joins Louisville’s Ashanti Cistrunk and Northeast Mississippi Community College’s Sam Williams as the linebacker commits in the class, though Williams could also play defensive end at Ole Miss. The Rebels’ class is ranked 18th nationally and ninth in the SEC in the 247Sports composite.
