Preseason for high school football ends this week. With it comes the annual jamboree games.

These are not full-length games, those come next week when the regular season begins. Instead, they are tune-ups to help sort out depth chart issues and ironing out what teams have been working on during the two-week fall camp.

Oxford and Lafayette are hosting their jamboree while Water Valley will hit the road for theirs on Friday.

The Chargers are once again hosting a slate of teams and will have games on Friday and Saturday. Houston, Baldwyn, Senatobia, Winona, North Pontotoc, Calhoun City, Charleston, Itawamba and Cleveland Central will take part in the Oxford Fall Jamboree at Bobby Holcomb Field.

Games will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, starting with Houston vs. Baldwyn. Oxford will host Charleston at 8 p.m. in the final game on Friday. The Chargers ninth-grade team will play Grenada’s ninth-grade team at 1 p.m. Saturday followed by Itawamba playing Cleveland Central at 3 p.m.

Across Highway 6, Lafayette will host South Panola at William L. Buford Stadium for a pair of games. The junior varsity squads will play at 6 p.m. followed by the varsity teams at 7 p.m.

Water Valley is making the trip to Ripley to play the Tigers at 7 p.m.
