Andrew “Mart” Martin Chandler

Dr. Andrew “Mart” Martin Chandler, 52, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, in Oxford.  The funeral service will be Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Oxford-University United Methodist Church with Rev. Eddie Rester and Rev. Chris McAlilly officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, from 4 until 7 p.m. in West Hall at Waller Funeral Home and again prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. in the atrium at the church.  A graveside service will be held Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m. at Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko, Miss., with Rev. Barry Corbitt officiating.

Born in Jackson, Miss., Mart was a graduate of Raleigh High School, Jones County Junior College, Mississippi College and attended medical school in Kansas City, Mo. He served his patients of Northeast Mississippi for 13 years as a caring and passionate endocrinologist. Mart was an active and loving family man and relished in time spent with his wife, children, friends and family.  Equally significant in his life were his other loves: Ole Miss sports, Halloween and his yard work, of which those who knew him joke of his devotion. Along with his family, Mart was an active member of Oxford-University United Methodist Church.   

Survivors include his wife, Lorie Vinson Chandler of Oxford; a daughter, Lauren Chandler of Oxford; a son, Ryan Chandler of Oxford; his parents, Drew and Gayle Chandler of Kosciusko; a sister, Kim Wilson and her husband, Stephen of Hattiesburg, Miss.; a brother, John Chandler and his wife, Laura Beth of Sumrall, Miss. and a grandmother, Cleo Garner of Raleigh, Miss.
