There was not much change to the top half of the rankings in this week’s Associated Press Top-10. Starkville (4-0) stayed at No. 1 after their 72-6 win over Columbus last week.

Hattiesburg (4-0) remained steady at No. 2 with their 52-19 win over rival Oak Grove. Northwest Rankin and West Point held their spots from a week ago at No. 3 and 4, respectively.

Starkville received 11 first-place votes with one vote going to Hattiesburg.

After their 36-6 win over Washington High School out of Oklahoma in Shreveport, La., Horn Lake moved up one spot to round out the Top-5.

The bottom half of the rankings saw a lot of movement with two teams moving into the Top-10.

Brandon bounced back from their first loss of the season to Clinton last week with a 34-6 win at Tupelo, giving the Golden Wave their first loss. The Bulldogs (3-1) moved up two spots to No. 6. Clinton (4-0) stayed at No. 7 after their win over Germantown.

Madison Central and Olive Branch entered the Top-10 at No. 8 and 9, respectively, after not being ranked last week. The Jaguars (3-1) handed defending 6A champion Pearl their second consecutive loss while Olive Branch (4-0) defeated Kirby (TN) 42-21 in Memphis.

Tupelo (3-1) had the biggest movement, dropping five spots to No. 10.

After narrowly missing the Top-10 last week, Lafayette earned one point in the overall vote after their 29-27 loss to Oxford in last week’s Crosstown Classic. The Commodores (3-1) also dropped one spot in the Class 5A poll, falling one spot to No. 4.

Hattiesburg, West Point, Olive Branch filled the top three spots and Wayne County came in at No. 5 in the 5A poll.

Water Valley nearly cracked the Top-5 of the Class 3A rankings. The Blue Devils (4-0) received 26 points after their 42-0 win over Bruce last week. They finished behind No. 5 West Marion (4-0).

North Panola (3-1), Winona (4-0), and Jefferson Davis County (2-2) rounded out the 3A poll.
