The inaugural Clear Creek Music and Arts Festival will take place this weekend at the Satterfield Pottery studio grounds.

A celebration of local artists, friends and music, as well as Satterfield Pottery’s grand opening, the Clear Creek festival will begin at 11 a.m. Friday with a ribbon cutting courtesy of the Oxford-Lafayette Chamber of Commerce.

“The Mission of the festival grounds is to give back to the community, and as an artist, I recognize how challenging it is to have a creative space,” artist Michael Satterfield said in a news release. “We thought to create an event in Oxford, which highlights the place that influenced many of our local artists and to offer a gathering that would build support for local artists and encourage collaboration.”

Satterfield Pottery is a family-owned Mississippi Company, which designs and produces custom dinnerware and home decor. It was started by Michael Satterfield in February 2012, to provide Mississippians and regional residents and businesses with locally handmade pottery, according to a news release.

Satterfield’s pottery is displayed in area shops, galleries and in the newly renovated showroom for locals and tourists in the region. An old stable barn renovated by Satterfield is where visitors will find his home, gallery and studio, located off Clear Creek Road in Oxford at 31 County Road 348.

Musicians to be featured at the festival include Pharm Truck and Southern Groove Redemption on Friday and Tate Moore and the Taylor Made Blues Band on Saturday. In addition to Satterfield Pottery, festival-goers will also be able to peruse the work of several Mississippi artists.

The Clear Creek Music and Arts Festival is free to the public. However non-perishable food items will be collected at the entry to benefit The Pantry.
