Terence Davis named to preseason All-SEC team

For the second straight year, Ole Miss senior Terence Davis has been named to the Preseason Second Team All-SEC. The Mississippi native led the Rebels in scoring (13.8 ppg) and rebounds (6.2 rpg) last year and is one of three returning starters from the 2017-2018 team.

The 6-foot-4 guard does everything for Ole Miss. For a guard to lead the team in rebounding is impressive, but for one to lead the team in blocks – which Davis did last season with 28 – is remarkable.

A lot has changed for Ole Miss since Andy Kennedy’s resignation in February. It’s unsure exactly how Terence Davis fits in with new head coach Kermit Davis’ system, but Kermit Davis has stressed the sort of modern basketball and positional versatility that Terence Davis displays.

In the Rebels’ preseason trip to Canada, the senior led the Rebels in points, rebounds, assists, and steals over a four-game stretch. In last week’s exhibition game against Fayetteville State, Davis recorded 20 points, nine rebounds, four blocks and four assists, all without turning the basketball over.

Davis is the only Rebel on the preseason All-SEC team. Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Auburn, Alabama and Florida all have two players each on the relatively balanced list. Georgia and Missouri are the only two schools without a player on the preseason teams.
