Search for robbery suspect leads to body, according to OPD

A suspect was found dead after Oxford Police responded to a call of a strong arm robbery Friday morning.

According to a release from OPD, officers responded to a strong arm robbery, or a robbery without a weapon, at around 10:05 a.m. Friday in the area around Hathorn Road.

Police deployed K-9 units to track the suspect, and, according to OPD, police found the suspect unresponsive near the Oxford Square Townhomes and the shopping center on West Jackson Avenue.

The suspect was pronounced dead by Lafayette County Coroner Rocky Kennedy. Oxford Police contacted the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations, per standard procedures.
