The Oxford Police Department arrested an Oxford man during a traffic stop last Thursday, after learning he was a convicted felon.

According to a release from OPD, a K9 officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that did not have a tag, and for the driver not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver informed the officer that he had a firearm. According to the report, police learned he was a convicted felon, and arrested Jovon Hayes, 33, for possession of a firearm by a felon.

Hayes was transferred to the Lafayette County Detention Center, and a Justice Court Judge set Hayes’ bond at $10,000.

Police arrest Oxford man for DUI 4^th

Police arrested an Oxford man on New Year’s Day for a DUI 4^th, during which time officers found he was a repeat DUI offender.

OPD received a call from a citizen about a carelessly driving vehichle, according to a report. Officers found the vehicle, and made contact with the driver.

Officers conducted a DUI investigation, and found that the driver had at least three prior DUI convictions.

Police arrested David Holman, 49, and transported him to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was booked for a DUI 4^th.

A Justice Court Judge set Holman’s bond at $15,000.
