Soccer vs Lewisburg, Girls 5 p.m., Boys 7 p.m.

This game is rescheduled from January 12. Despite being a non-district game, this should be a critical game for Lafayette to measure their current season progress as both the Lewisburg girls and boys are among the best teams in the state. The Lewisburg girls team is 12-0-2 and ranked No. 11 in Mississippi with the boys 12-1-1 are ranked No. 6. For Lafayette, the girls enter the week coming off just their second loss of the season, dropping them to 17-2 – this game could be a big rebound performance. For the Commodore boys, the game will prove if their recent 6 game winning streak has truly gotten them over the hump.

Friday (Jan. 25):

Tuesday (Jan. 22):

Basketball at DeSoto Central, Girls 6 p.m.,  Boys 7:30 p.m.
Soccer vs Saltillo, Girls 5 p.m., Boys 7 p.m.

Friday (Jan. 25)

Basketball at Tupelo, Girls 6 p.m., Boys 7:30 p.m.

Oxford basketball lost both games to Tupelo in their first meeting earlier this month, with both games coming down to the wire. The boys lost their first meeting with Tupelo at home 52-48. At 17-4, but only 1-2 in the district, they desperately need this one if they have any hope to win the district. The girls have struggled more recently and are 12-10 and 0-3 in the district after Friday’s loss to South Panola. However, they played a good Tupelo team really tight the first time, losing just 66-65 in their home gym.
