Oxford School District names Brittany Franks Teacher of the Year

The Oxford School District announced its annual awards Monday evening, and announced Brittany Franks as its Teacher of the Year.

OSD gave out eight awards, one for each school in the district, with Franks winning twice: once for the district’s teacher of the year, and another for Oxford High School’s Teacher of the Year.

Franks teaches English at OHS, and has been with the school since 2017. She’s been working in education since 2011.

“Ms. Franks has had multiple occasions this school year to where in an English 2 class, her English 2 students have done extraordinary work, and their work has been presented in our community,” Assistant Superintendent Bradley Roberson said while presenting Franks her award. “For that is the reason she’s here tonight, and that’s the reason she’s being recognized.”

In 2017, Franks was also was also awarded with a National Board Certification, which is recognized as the gold standard for a public school teacher. The NBC is the highest achievements a teacher can receive as a public school teacher.
