James “Stan” Stanley Hargett, Jr., 60, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019, at his home in Oxford, Mississippi. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, at 1 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Oxford, MS, with Father Joe Tonos officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church’s columbarium. Visitation will be held prior the service at the church from 12 p.m. until service time.

Born in Columbus, Mississippi, to Frances Springfield Hargett and the late James Stanley Hargett, Sr., Stan retired from 40 years of service as the Manager of Kroger in Oxford. Mr. Hargett was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was an avid Ole Miss fan who enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. His grandchildren and daughters were his joy in life.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Stacy Wamble Hargett of Oxford; four daughters, Terra Bowling and her husband, John of Hernando, Mississippi, Mary Lauren Boykin and her husband Michael of Florence, Mississippi, Hallie Doyle and her husband, Eric of Gulfport, Mississippi and Jamie Howard and her husband, Doug of Birmingham, Alabama; mother, Frances Springfield Hargett of Columbus, Mississippi; two brothers, Ken Hargett and Tim Hargett both of Columbus; and eight grandchildren, Adam, Poppy and Henry Bowling, Nicholas, Rivers and Leyton Boykin, and Hullin and Jude Doyle.
