Joyce Camilla Jordan Martin, 90, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, at her home in Oxford, Mississippi. The funeral service will be held Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Allen officiating. Burial will take place in Oxford Memorial Cemetery following the service. The visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Born in Grenada, Mississippi, to the late Jason and Macel Jeanings Jordan, Mrs. Martin attended Coffeeville High School, where she served as a cheerleader and was Queen of the Fireman’s parade. She attended Mississippi College for Women in Columbus, where she met and fell in love with James Wallace Martin, formerly of Water Valley, Mississippi. They were married in November of 1948.  Together they toured the world as he served in the United States military. After retirement they moved to Oxford. Joyce worked as bookkeeper and clerk for Rebel Press Office Supply and Jennie’s Hallmark Store. Later she worked alongside her husband at Martin Building Supply. Mrs. Martin was an active member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed being with her grandchildren and square dancing. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wallace Martin and a brother, Jason Jordan, Jr.

She is survived by her two daughters, Teresa Green and Macel Juergens and her husband, John, of Oxford; her son, James Wallace Martin, Jr., of Arlington, Virginia; two sisters, Dorothy Gilchrist of Coldwater, Mississippi, and Celeste Jordan of Oxford; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
