Joe Karl Larson, 77, died Saturday, March 9, 2019.  at The Blake at Oxford, Mississippi. The funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home Tuesday, March 12, 2019,  at 2 p.m. with Rev. Eddie Rester officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, Mississippi. The visitation was held in West Hall at Waller Funeral Home on Monday, March 11, 2019 from 4 p.m.  to 7 p.m.

 

Born in Water Valley to the late James Arden and Janie Hunt Larson, Mr. Larson graduated from Ole Miss with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. He was a member of Oxford University-United Methodist Church in Oxford. Joe formerly served on the Board of Directors for the Mechanics Bank and was a former Auditor for the State of Mississippi.  In March of 1969, he joined his brothers in the grocery business. He was an avid Ole Miss fan and loved spending time at the beach playing golf with his brothers. Along with his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a brother, James Larson.

 

He is survived by a daughter, Kim Upton, of Oxford; son, Brent Larson,  and his wife, Christy, of Oxford; former wife, Joan Kay Larson, of Oxford; sister, Jane Ricketts of Memphis, Tennessee; brother, Bill Larson, of Oxford; four grandchildren, Hayley Smith and her husband, Nathan, Morgan Upton, Will Larson, and Sam Larson all of Oxford.

 

Memorial contributions in Mr. Larson’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association (Mississippi Chapter), 207 West Jackson Street, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
