Barbara was an avid tennis player, and enjoyed playing bridge and volunteering in any capacity. She could also keep any plant alive and often “rescued” dying plants from friends and family. Her true joy came from spending time with her sons and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a person of truth, kindness, and the most giving spirit who always put her family first.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Mae Thompson; and twin brothers, Paul and David Garrett. She is survived by two sons, Brad Mitchell and his wife, Sally, of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Kevin Mitchell and his wife, Camille of Oxford; two grandsons, Garrett Mitchell of Atlanta, Georgia, and Grant Myers of Indianapolis; two granddaughters, Lily Mitchell and Julia Mitchell of Oxford.
