After months of heavy rain and cold temperatures have caused slight delays, the completion of Lafayette County’s new business center and arena is in sight. An update on the project’s progress was provided during Monday’s Lafayette County Board of Supervisors.

Bryan Ellis of Innovative Construction Management spoke in front of the supervisors gave a new completion date of April 15. Some projects scheduled to be completed on April 4 with the 15th serving as the full completion date for buildings of the business center.

The April 15 completion date is due to weather days that were requested. Additional weather days for February have been requested but are being reviewed, as those may not be needed for completion of the project.

“We have sunshine and we have dry weather,” Ellis said to begin his update.

An update on the business center was first and Ellis noted the construction of the concrete plaza began on Monday with canopies and sun shades being installed following the concrete being poured. Landscape is the next step for the plaza after installation of plaza concrete along with benches and flag pole instillation.

The business center consists of four buildings. The installation of carpet and wood flooring will begin next Monday for Building 1 followed by final painting and cleaning. The punch list inspection will begin on April 8, followed by moving in the furniture and other equipment.

Installation of an acoustical ceiling will begin this week for Building 2 then installation of carpet and flooring scheduled for April 1. Tile and plumbing fixture installation will be completed this week. Final paint and cleaning will begin on April 8.

Building 4 of the business center is ‘a little behind’ schedule and will not be fully completed until May.

The arena is lacking the asphalt pouring that will be completed the first week of April.
