Obituary – Ben Horan

Ben F. Horan, 90, of Water Valley, Mississippi, died Saturday, March 30, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family. Ben was the son of John P. and Lela Horan of Water Valley, and was married to Lilly Loyce Horan. Ben served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, and was a graduate of University of Mississippi School of Law. Ben was an attorney in private practice in Water Valley from 1959 to 2012. He also was a former County Prosecutor for Yalobusha County, former Attorney for the City of Coffeeville, and former Youth Court Master for Yalobusha County.

Visitation was held Monday, April 1, 2019, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley.  Funeral services were on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Stoney Moorehead officiating. Burial followed the service in Oak Hill Cemetery with Hayden Horan, Payne Horan, Heath Horan, Garrett Miller, Nathan Bruner, and Bill Bruner serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Curtis Berry, Breck Brown, Larry Bell, David Lowe, Ricky Lowe, Tuffy Williamson, Trent Howell, Rex Howell, John Crow, David Kehoe, Larry Davis and Tim Bell. A private mass was also held with Father Joe Tonos from St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Oxford, Mississippi.

Ben is survived by his wife, Lilly Loyce Horan, of Water Valley; five sons, Michael Horan (Patsy) of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Brennan Horan (Leslie) of Southaven, Mississippi, Clay Horan (Debbie) of Senatobia, Mississippi, Kevin Horan (Clarissa) of Grenada, Mississippi, and Sean Horan (Melissa) of Denver, Colorado; and one brother, Dewitt Kehoe, of Water Valley.

In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Horan Bruner; six sisters, Pat Horan Grant, Wilma Sartain, Hattie Mathis, Francis Vaughn, Betty Melton, and Elizabeth Dunn; and four brothers, George Kehoe, Earl Kehoe, Jack Kehoe, and James Kehoe.
