Obituary – Susan Elizabeth Lester Eftink

Susan Elizabeth Lester Eftink, 66, died peacefully in her home in Garner, North Carolina, on Saturday, April 6, 2019. She was born in Portageville, Missouri, on August 14, 1952. She had previously lived for over 30 years in Oxford, Mississippi. Using her master’s degrees in both Education and Social Work, she founded a hospice and worked as an Associate Professor of Social Work at the University of Mississippi.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Doris and Elza Lester, and her brother, Larry Lester.  She is survived by and dearly missed by her husband, Maurice Eftink, of Oxford and Garner; her three children, Jacob Eftink of Oxford, Anna Kathleen Miller of Garner, Jude “JJ” Eftink of Chattanooga, Tennessee; son-in-law, Patrick Miller; and her two grandchildren, Emilea and Bryson Miller. Services will be held at Grace Episcopal in Clayton, North Carolina, on Monday, April 15 at 2 p.m.
