Obituary – Mary K. Metts

Mary K. Metts, 81, died Tuesday, April 9, 2019, in Raleigh, North Carolina. The funeral service will be held Friday, April 12, 2019, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery in Oxford, Mississippi. The visitation will be held prior to the service at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until service time.

 

Born to the late John Bunyan and Ethel Turner Kelley, Ms. Metts attended Anchor Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Oxford. She loved her family and had a giving heart, helping people to find housing in the Mobile City Trailer Park which she owned. Mary also assisted people in driving them to their appointments.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and James Kelley. Mary is survived by her daughters, Carrie Al-Danab of Raleigh,  Diane Heatherly of Raleigh, and Denise Murrah and her husband, Keith, of Mathiston, Mississippi; five sisters, Carmita Tidwell and her husband, Clinton, of Oxford, Linda James and her husband, Calvin, of Oxford, Cathy Guarr and her husband, Bart, of Water Valley, Mississippi, Pamela Thrift of Water Valley, and Holly Kelley of Coffeeville, MS; three brothers, Freddie Kelley and his wife, Martha, of Oxford, Gary Kelley and his wife, Gloria, of Oxford, and Rocky Kelley of Carriere, Mississippi; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
