NASHVILLE – With the 51st pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans have selected, A.J. Brown, wide receiver, University of Mississippi. Ole Miss’ all-time leading wide receiver is going to Nashville.

The former four-star recruit, and Starkville, Miss. native, Brown enters the NFL as one of the most decorated skill position players in Ole Miss history.

Brown holds three of the six Rebel single-season or career receiving records, including the two best single-seasons, by yardage, in NFL history. He holds school records for career receiving yards (2,984), single-season receiving yards (1,320) and single-season receptions (85).

He’s likely drafted to play the slot. The NFL as a whole has come around more, over the last few years, to having bigger receiver who play primarily in that interior receiver role. Brown, at 6-foot-1 and 225-pounds, has played both inside and outside, but projects primarily as a slot.

“I know he’s played outside, but I think he ends up playing inside, somebody that you wish was just a little bit taller, but the toughness is there, working the middle of the field and the run after the catch is what you love,” said NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah. “I think to me, though, he’s got to play inside, so if you’re looking at something to knock him on, I don’t see him as on outside guy.”

A.J. Brown didn’t get the accolade D.K. Metcalf did and wasn’t seen as a guy with as high an upside. He tested solidly as an athlete, but it wasn’t off the charts by any means. What he is, simply put, is a great football player.

NFL teams are all-too often known for over-thinking things. But here’s the deal with A.J. Brown, he’s always been a stud and he’s always been the best receiver on his teams – regardless of the fact the Metcalf was drafted before him. The Titans is getting a stud with Brown.

The Starkville, Miss. product who broke down all barriers to not just come to Ole Miss, but shatter school records, is now a Titan.
