Obituary – Walter David “Butch” Babb

Walter David “Butch” Babb, age 75, passed away at North Delta Hospice Center in Southaven, Mississippi, on Saturday, May 25, 2019. The funeral service was held in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at 11 a.m. and Rev. Stacy Watkins officiated. A graveside service followed at Oxford Memorial Cemetery. 

Mr. Babb was born to the late, W.C. and Leona Sue Oswalt Babb in Oxford, Mississippi, in 1944. He retired after 32 years of service as a fireman and Assistant Fire Chief with the Oxford Fire Department. Butch was a longtime member of Drivers Flat Baptist Church as well as a member of O.D. Smith Masonic Lodge. Mr. Babb was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping and going to drag races. Butch loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Juanice Frizzell Babb of Oxford; daughter, Melissa Dawn Davis and her husband Robert of Oxford; son, Michael David Babb and his wife Beverly of Oxford; sister, Juanita Sue Thames of Jackson, Mississippi;  and four grandchildren, Hunter Gerald Stanford, Taylor Nicole Babb, Cody James Mustard, and Michael Foster Babb.
