The Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning announced the selection of members for the Campus Search Committee on Friday. The committee is charged with helping find the University of Mississippi’s next chancellor.

The IHL Board announced last month a Campus Search Committee would be formed as the process of finding the successor to Jeffrey Vitter began in earnest. Vitter announced last November his intentions of stepping down as Ole Miss’ chancellor, effective January. On Jan. 3 Larry Sparks became the interim chancellor.

The 39-member committee ‘represents a cross-section of the University of Mississippi campus community,’ per a release sent out by the University on Friday evening. Dr. Charles Hussey and Oxford Mayor Robyn Tannehill will serve as co-chairs of the committee. Hussey, associate dean for research and graduate education as well as a chemistry professor, and Tannehill are both alumnae of Ole Miss.

The other 37 members are: Gregory Alston (assistant director of development, Ole Miss athletics foundation), Brady Bramlett (assistant director of development, Ole Miss athletics foundation), Dr. Katrina Caldwell (vice chancellor for diversity and community engagement and instructional professor of higher education), Leon Collins (national alumni association president, former adjutant general of Mississippi serving as the commanding general of both the Mississippi army and air national guard), Ben Craddock (What A Combo, Inc. president), Bill Gates (executive committee of the Business School), Gazel Giles (coordinator of outreach programs), Dr. Carole Haney (attorney), Andrew Herren (graduate student council president), Blake Johns (UMMC student body president), Robert Lampton (president of supply & distribution division; Ergon Terminalling, inc.), Sam Lane (senior vp/client development for First Commercial Bank), Bruce Levingston (chancellor’s honors college artist-in-residence), Don Martin (president of UM Business School advisory council), Barron Mayfield (associated student body president), Dr. Tyrus McCarty (assistant dean for special initiatives in the School of Engineering), Bob McEwan (managing director of Fixed Income Capital Market of Raymond James, Inc.), Jesse Mitchell, III (past president of University of Mississippi M-Club), Markeeva Morgan (University of Mississippi Foundation board member), Aimee Nezhukmatahil (professor of english and creative writing), Dr. Brice Noonan (associate professor of biology), Dr. Charles O’Mara (associate vice chancellor for clinical affairs, University Medical Center), Charlotte Parks (vice chancellor for development), Crymes Pittman (attorney, Pittman, Roberts & Welsh, P.L.L.C), Dr. David Rock (dean of the School of Education and professor curriculum and instruction), Peter Ross (board of governors for Ole Miss athletics), Ron Rychlak (professor of law), Nancy Maria Balach Schusselin (associate professor of music), Dr. Patrick Smith (chief faculty affairs officer), Blake Tart, III (real estate investor), Todd Wade (former Ole Miss and NFL football player, real estate investor), Marie Wicks (Miss Mississippi  2012), Dr. Mark Wilder (KPMG chair of accountancy in Patterson School of Accountancy), Dr. Noel Wilkin (provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs), Charlie Williams (former member of Mississippi House of Representatives and former chief of staff to Governor Haley Barbour), Dr. John Winkle (professor emeritus of political science), Dr. LouAnn Woodward (vice chancellor for Health Affairs).

The committee will meet for the first time on June 14 at 11:30 a.m. in Salon A-B of the Ballroom at the Inn at Ole Miss. A need for a new chancellor grew after former Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork left last month for the same position at Texas A&M. Keith Carter was named interim athletics director soon after. Interim chancellor Sparks said he would not hire a new athletics director and would leave that task to the new permanent chancellor.
