Saturday marks the first home Ole Miss football game of the season. Home openers usually generate a lot of traffic in Oxford, and with it being a Southeastern Conference match up on top of that, traffic is anticipated cause a few headaches.

With that in mind, the Oxford Police Department announced their game day traffic plans on Thursday.

Double Decker buses will begin running at 3:30 p.m. from the Downtown Square to campus and back at no cost. The buses will run throughout the game, and for two hours after the game ends. Other transportation options include shuttle buses at FNC Park, South Oxford Center (the old Baptist Hospital) on South Lamar Boulevard and the Jackson Avenue Center. The shuttles will begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday and will end one hour after the game ends. For pick up locations, visit http://olemissgameday.com.

Visitors to Oxford can use the CLUTCH! app to purchase single-game reserved parking passes. The app is available on both iOS and Android devices.

For anyone using a taxi service, the drop off and pick up location will be at the intersection of Old Taylor Road and University Avenue. No other locations on city streets will be designated for taxi picks up and drop offs. Any taxis disrupting traffic will be issued a ticket.

Following Saturday’s game, there will be OPD officers directing traffic in several locations, including the intersection of Jackson Avenue and Highway 6. Drivers on Hathorn Road will not be able to exit to Highway 6 off Chucky Mullins Drive and must go to West Jackson Avenue. Old Taylor Road traffic must take Belk Boulevard to South Lamar.

Backpacks and track bags will not be allowed on shuttles or in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Ole Miss is once again implementing the clear bag policy, and OPD wants to remind everyone to put any valuables left behind in their trunk and lock their vehicles.
